The Story of Baby

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the family that adopted Baby.

She is a Saint Bernard that we rescued in March, after her owners could no longer keep her and were going to have her euthanized.

Baby's history is sketchy at best, but if everything we've been told about her is true, she has had 7 very rough years of life. She was taken from her first family by animal control for reported abuse. As a shelter dog, she was accepted into the prison therapy program to work with the inmates. The first inmate she was placed with beat her until she lost most of her hearing. The next inmate she was placed with treated her well, however, she spent most of her time in a kennel.

Wait, it gets worse...The prison system retired Baby and she was adopted by a family in Indiana. Life was good out in the country until she was shot in the back end by an idiot with a hunting rifle. Whoever put her back together again did a wonderful job, because she is still able to move well with little effort. Albeit with a quirky gait.

Despite all her hardships, Baby is still a gentle, people-loving sweetheart who gets along well with children and other dogs. Her best years still lie ahead.
